What are your services
like?
We gather to explore a
wide variety of topics including world
religions, social justice, and personal
development. After the minister speaks,
people sometimes share their opinions on the
topic and are allowed to disagree! Our music
is as diverse as our theology and on any
given Sunday you may hear classical, folk,
show tunes or rock n’ roll. Between
services we continue to build community at
our coffee hour.

What do I wear to your
services?

casually but you can dress up if you want
to.

Are Unitarian Universalists
Christian?
We have expanded upon
our Christian heritage to embrace the
positive aspects of many world religions and
philosophies. Some UU's identify themselves
as Christian, some identify as Humanist,
Jewish, Earth-Centered, Buddhist or other
philosophy.
TOP
Do Unitarian Universalists
believe in God?
Some do and some do
not. We are more concerned that a person's
beliefs result in caring for other human
beings and the earth.
TOP
Is Unitarian Universalism a
real religion?
Not if you believe
religion is dividing people between the saved
and unsaved. However, if you believe that
religion should seek to unite humanity rather
than divide it, we might be more real than
other religions.
TOP
What is Unitarian Universalist
theology?
Classical Unitarianism
argued from scripture (Luke 24:19, Acts 2:22)
that Jesus was a prophet of God and not part
of the Trinity. Classical Universalism also
argued from scripture that all people were
saved (I Corinthians 15:22, Ephesians
1:9-10). Modern Unitarian Universalism
considers many world religions and secular
philosophies as sources of truth. We believe
in religious freedom. Our community helps
people unfold their own unique spiritual
path.
TOP
What does Unitarian
Universalism mean?
Unitarian means "God is
one." Universalism means "All are
saved."
TOP
Do Unitarian Universalists
pray?
Yes, in their own way.
They also meditate or just think things
through.
TOP
Do Unitarian Universalists
believe in Heaven and Hell?
Some believe in Heaven.
Few believe in Hell except for that we create
ourselves. Some UU's also believe in
reincarnation. Some believe there is no
afterlife.
TOP
How do Unitarian Universalist
ministers become ministers?
Typically UU minister's
earn a Master's Degree in Divinity and work
with the denomination's Ministerial
Fellowship Committee to prepare to serve our
congregations.
TOP
Can Unitarian Universalist
ministers perform marriage
ceremonies?
UU ministers are
legally certified to officiate at weddings.
In addition to traditional marriages, we
perform ceremonies that other religions
forbid. If you are divorced, gay, lesbian, or
if you and your fiance are of different
faiths, your love will be honored and
respected by Unitarian
Universalists.
TOP
How does Unitarian
Universalism promote
fellowship?
We honor the inherent
worth and dignity of each individual, yet
encourage each person to discover how we all
are connected to the interdependant web of
all existence.
